The Center's Outreach Educator leads Project WILD, Aquatic WILD and CATCH workshops for educators and youth leaders. These workshops provide materials and methods for incorporating wildlife in school curricula, scouting and 4-H programs and environmental education. Programs are offered at the Center and offsite. | CATCH - 8/27/10 W Kerr Scott Dam | CATCH (Caring for Aquatics Through Conservation Habits) is an environmental education program developed by the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission. The CATCH program is free and includes an educator workshop, activity guide and other instructional materials. Adults working with youth ages 8–15 learn how to present activities on topics such as identification of North Carolina fish species, fish adaptations and biology, habitat requirements, fishing skills, water safety and conservation ethics. The program is open to all interested educators including schoolteachers; park, nature center and camp personnel; and scout leaders. All participants qualify for CEU and EEC credits. Ages 18 and up.

| Aquatic Project WILD - 8/28/10 W. Kerr Scott Dam | Aquatic WILD is a wildlife-based education program that fosters responsible actions toward wildlife and other natural resources. It is open to all interested educators including schoolteachers; park, nature center, and camp personnel; and scout leaders. Participants will receive the Aquatic WILD activity guide and qualify for CEU and EEC credits. The workshop will be held indoors and outside. Please dress for the weather. Ages 18 and up. | Project WILD - 9/14&15/10 Grandfather Mtn. | Project WILD is an interdisciplinary conservation and environmental education program emphasizing wildlife. The goal of Project WILD is to assist students of any age in developing awareness, knowledge, skills, and commitment to result in informed decisions, responsible behavior, and constructive actions concerning wildlife and the environment. Activities will be held indoors and outside. Please dress for the weather. Participants will receive the Project WILD activity guide and qualify for CEU and EEC Criteria I credits. Ages 18 and up. | Flying WILD - 9/28/10 Hanging Rock State Park | Flying WILD workshops provide activities to teach middle school students about birds, their migration, and what people can do to help birds and their habitats. The activities can be used to teach classroom lessons or to set up service-learning projects about birds and their habitats. The guide can even provide activities for a bird festival. The program is open to all interested educators including schoolteachers; park, nature center and camp personnel; and scout leaders. All participants qualify for CEU and EEC credits. Ages 18 and up.

State Par | Growing Up WILD is an early childhood program that builds on children’s sense of wonder about nature and invites them to explore wildlife and their habitats, with an emphasis on promoting aquatic resource appreciation and stewardship. Through a wide range of activities and experiences, Growing Up WILD provides an early foundation for developing positive impressions about nature and lifelong social and academic skills. These 6-hour workshops are primarily oriented towards formal and nonformal educators, who work with children ages 3-7. This may include childcare centers, daycare facilities and public school classes. Participants trained in Growing Up WILD will receive a free Growing Up WILD activity guide. The program is open to all interested educators including schoolteachers; park, nature center and camp personnel; and scout leaders. All participants qualify for CEU and EEC credits. Ages 18 and up.
